As of August 31, 2010, some items will be discontinued and others will be changed. The following kits will no longer be available for order after the end of August. #510 (Outhouse), #514 (George Wickett Feed & Seed), #518 (Coal Silo),#515 and 515A (2 Stall Stone Engine House and Engine House Set),#511 (Yard Shed), #503 (Poured Concrete Loading Ramp), #504 (Cut Stone Loading Ramp), #505 (Wood Frame Loading Ramp). These kits are being discontinued because I am phasing out Hydrocal (too much breakage in shipping)and demand does not warrant new moulds for resin casting.
The following kits will be changed to include all resin parts. #516 and #517 (Blacksmith Shop and Interior), #520 (Red's Tools), #521 Doney & Giddy Men's Furnishings)and #506 (Narrow Gauge Tender Water Tank).
If you would like any of the these kits in their present form, please be sure to order before August 31 as no orders will be taken after that time.

I need an intervention. I can't stop making water tank kits. To keep the Tender tank and H&LoB Ry. tank company, we have a new offering. The Garden Hill Tank is a much fancier structure than it's predecessors and is obviously from a more prosperous and classy operation. It will fit into a pretty small space and is very simple and quick to put together.
I'll update this story when I can think of something amusing to write about the tank...

It's finally here. The 3 stall brick roundhouse kit is in production.
The project started over a year ago when I had the notion to make a kit for a roundhouse. I've always liked the Kennebec Central 2 stall frame building. I looked at it for quite a while. I decided that it would be an interesting (if not prototypical) model to make as a brick structure. Then I thought that 3 stalls would be better than 2......
The result is a very highly detailed, almost all resin kit. The walls are cast with brick detail on the inside as well as outside, a one piece resin rafter casting with smoke collectors, a resin roof and prototypical, conical smoke vents for the roof. The doors are cast with vertical siding on one side and diagonal on the other. The kit includes 2 brick lined track inspection pits and a large number of interior details- many new castings made specifically for this kit. The window sashes are laser cut plywood by Full Steam Ahead and the exquisite door hinges are white metal castings from Crow River.
The 'Forney House' is designed to hold 3 Bachmann Forneys although you can squeeze a Bachmann 4-4-0 into the centre stall. An extension is offered to lengthen the roundhouse to hold Bachmann's Mogul and Consolidation.
This will be limited to 150 kits and will be available from Schomberg Scale Models directly.
The price will be $225 for the complete kit with all details shown (less tree and ground cover, track, figures, and, of course, the Forney). The extension kit will be $45.00
If you would like more (and larger) photographs of this kit, send me a note at christophercreighton@schombergscalemodels.com
and I'll forward the additional images to you.

Schomberg Scale Models is pleased to announce the release of our latest O scale kit, The Solway Clay Pot Company. With a footprint measuring 12"x6-1/2" for the main, stone building and an additional 4"x6" for the brick kiln room/smokestack addition, this is a good sized line side industry for your railway. The walls of the main building are made from individually laid stone patterns and the windows are 9/9 factory double hung with positionable upper sashes. There are 6 dormers and two ornate brick chimneys to adorn the roof which has rolled tar paper detail cast on. Many of the patterns for this kit are new including the scale 36' tall brick smokestack, both intact and broken clay pots, the badly deteriorating concrete loading ramp and the sign- which can be made with a different name if you have the Slaters plastic letters.
The all resin kit is currently in production and available from Schomberg Scale Models and dealers for $165.00. It will be limited to a production run of 150 kits so order now!

We're proud to announce the release of our new Cut Stone Station in O scale. The all resin kit includes stone walls made from hand assembled patterns, our cedar shingle roof, a 200 gallon domestic oil tank (for those chilly nights in the basement) and the new O scale luggage set. A bit more decorative than the Large Scale version, this interesting kit retails for $70.

We've decided to harmonize the sometimes confusing pricing structure at SSM. The Canadian dollar is virtually at par with the US dollar so all prices are the same, regardless of currency. As well, if there is a choice of resin or hydrocal, both materials are now the same price. We hope that this helps to simplify the ordering process for you. If there is anything that you notice about the website (positive or negative) please let us know so that we can try to make it better. Thanks.

I have recently discovered that someone is "phishing" for information from my customers. If you receive a request, purportedly from Schomberg Scale Models, asking you to update your customer information, delete the message.
I have never and will never ask you for any personal information.

Although most of the detail parts made by Schomberg Scale Models are scaled specifically, a few parts will work in multiple scales. For instance, large scale builders can use the O scale barrels and crates. The O scale monuments will work well as markers on G scale and the O scale 100 pound sacks make great small bags in G.
